Spring (Fashion) Fever

While March marks the start of the spring season, in Michigan the month of March still includes cold winter weather. Most days are cold and dreary, and if we’re lucky some days are warm and bright. For those who are ready to transition into warm, spring weather and spring fashion, there are ways to relieve your spring fever. You can build your spring style, stay warm, and not freeze on the cold days. Unleash your spring spirit by adding some color to your look.

Put away the outerwear you wore all winter, and get new gear. A new purse, coat, or jacket in a vibrant spring color is a great choice. If an intense color is not your style, fresh neutral colors like beige or light gray light and are refreshing as well. Many stores have special spring collections that launch this time of year. Do a little window shopping and browse store displays for spring color for inspiration.

Replace your winter boots with flats. Available in a wide variety of colors, patterns, and designs, flats go with many different outfits and are very affordable. If you love a bargain, buy a few pairs of flats in different colors. As with outerwear, if a more daring shoe color is not your style, neutral colors like champagne, silver, and rose gold are nice alternatives to bold colors.

Shop for accessories like earrings, necklaces, bracelets, belts, and scarves in bright colors. A simple outfit with accessories in vivid colors will give your look a spring touch. Coordinating your accessories to match each other is also a ton of fun!

Change up your makeup routine! If you don’t normally wear blush, now is the time to add it to your look for spring. If you do, intensify your blush colors this season. Do the same for your lip colors. Spring blush and lip colors include peach, orange, hot pink, pale pink, lilac, and melon tones. For eyeshadows, fully explore and play with different warm and cool colors. To create colorful looks that aren’t uncomfortably bold, blend small amounts of brighter colors with neutral tones.

If you don’t want to spend too much money this month but still want to get spring colors in your look, you can simply paint your nails in a spring color. Warm colors like red, orange, yellow, and pink are great for the spring season. Cool colors like green, blue, and lavender also work well for the spring season.
