Do Women Build? You bet we do!

This May, during National Women Build Week, we will be building a new home at 1710 Southern in the Milwood neighborhood. We are currently scheduling volunteers for Tuesday, May 9, Wednesday, May 10, Thursday, May 11 and Saturday, May 13. Our volunteer day is 8:30 am – 3:30 pm. We break for lunch at noon, which will be provided for this special event.

Please let me know which day or days you would like to volunteer. We are scheduling 10 volunteers for the first three days and 20 for the Saturday. We schedule volunteers on a first contact​ , first scheduled basis.

Our National Women Build partner, Lowe’s (5108 S. Westnedge), is hosting a free Women Build How To Clinic: How to Use Power Tools Safely & Basic Framing, Wednesday, April 19, 6-7:30 pm. This clinic is not required to volunteer and you don’t have to volunteer to participate in the clinic.

On the build site and at the clinic, we will provide all the necessary tools and equipment, including safety glasses and hard hats. All volunteers must wear long pants and closed shoes. No flip flops or sandals. Please wear clothes that can get dirty and dress for the weather. I hope it will be warm and sunny spring day!

​If you aren’t available during Women Build week, remember that ​w e build every Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday 8:30 A.M. to 3:30 P.M., throughout the year. There is always much to do and the work varies from site to site and day to day. Construction tasks may include: framing, sheathing, siding, drywall, flooring, painting, trim, landscaping and more. We provide the safety equipment, tools and gloves.

Print off our Release and Waiver and bring the waiver with you on your first day of volunteering. ​ Volunteers must complete the release form every 12 months.​
